From the vibrant heart of Chicago's South-East Side, where family gatherings were always a delicious affair, comes Miranda Mayes-Johnson. Raised in a bustling kitchen filled with love and the irresistible aromas of home-cooked meals, her culinary journey began at the tender age of ten, happily cooking for her mom and beloved grandmother. While her early love affair was with the zesty spices of Mexican cuisine, Miranda's palate and passion quickly expanded, embracing the rich tapestry of global flavors.

Though her academic path initially led her to explore the wonders of Biology at Wilberforce University after graduating in 2011, the magnetic pull of the kitchen proved too strong to resist. Returning to her Chicago roots, Miranda wholeheartedly pursued her true calling, honing her skills at Malcolm X and Kennedy King City Colleges, diligently crafting her culinary expertise. Along the way, she gained invaluable hands-on experience as a line cook in several bustling restaurants, the fiery heart of any great kitchen.

In 2017, fueled by unwavering support from her husband and mother, Chef Johnson's lifelong dream blossomed into G'Mamas Kitchen, a catering company lovingly named in honor of her late grandmother, Miss Emma Jean Mayes. More than just a business, G'Mamas Kitchen is a celebration of family, flavor, and fresh ingredients, offering everything from personalized private cooking and convenient meal preps to show-stopping event catering, engaging cooking lessons, and delightful weekly dinner specials. With her management license in food and IL Basset licensing under her belt, Chef Johnson brings not only incredible taste but also professional expertise to every plate.
